Sample Coordination

We coordinate factory test pieces, arrange dimensional and wall thickness verification, and manage pressure testing before you commit to a full order.

Factory cost + coordination fee

What We Do

A sample order is one of the most useful risk-reduction steps before a full container. A brochure, certificate, or video call can tell you what the supplier claims to make. A controlled sample shows whether the factory can produce your size, wall thickness, marking, material, and basic performance requirements under real production conditions.

We coordinate test piece production, verify the output against your specification, and deliver a buyer-side pass/fail report before you commit to a full order. For high-value projects, sampling can be combined with factory audit and third-party laboratory testing. For lower-risk repeat orders, it can be a practical check before moving into negotiation and PO drafting.

When Sampling Makes Sense

Sampling is useful when you are buying from a new factory, changing DN range, ordering a pressure pipe for the first time, comparing two suppliers, or trying to confirm whether a very low quote is based on an acceptable material and wall thickness. It is especially important for HDPE pressure pipe, gas pipe, steel pipe with tight tolerance, or any project where approval documents must match the supplied pipe.

Sampling is less useful if the project requires only standard commodity pipe and the supplier has already passed audit plus recent inspection for the same product. In that case, a focused pre-shipment inspection may be enough.

The Sampling Process

  1. Spec confirmation — We translate your requirements into factory instructions in Mandarin, with critical dimensions, wall thickness, material grade, and marking requirements documented in writing
  2. Sample production — Factory produces 1–3 lengths per DN size. We monitor production timing and confirm the correct resin batch is used
  3. Dimensional verification — We measure OD, wall thickness at four points, ovality, and check pipe markings against ISO 4427 or your specified standard
  4. Pressure test — Hydrostatic pressure test at 1.5× rated pressure for the required hold time. Test conducted at the factory under our supervision
  5. Pass/fail report — Full report with photos, measured dimensions vs. specification, and test results. Delivered within 48 hours of test completion

What We Need From You

Send the target pipe standard, DN or OD, SDR or wall thickness, material grade, quantity, destination country, and any project marking requirement. If you already have a supplier quote, send it as well. We check whether the quote and sample instruction describe the same product. If the project specification is not clear, we help convert it into a written sample request that the factory can follow.

What You Get

  • Dimensional measurement report (OD, wall thickness, ovality)
  • Hydrostatic pressure test certificate
  • Photos of sample markings and pipe cross-section
  • Clear pass/fail recommendation
  • If failed: root cause identification and factory response
  • Comparison between sample result, supplier quote, and buyer specification
  • Recommendation on whether to proceed, revise the PO, or test another supplier

Common Failure Points We Catch

  • Wall thickness at low end of tolerance or below spec
  • Incorrect SDR ratio produced despite written confirmation
  • Resin grade substitution identified by density or MFI check
  • Markings missing or non-compliant with ISO 4427 requirements
  • Sample made by a different factory than the one named in the quote
  • Pressure test performed without clear temperature, pressure, or hold-time documentation

How Sampling Connects To The PO

The sample result should not sit in isolation. If the sample passes, we use it to lock the production requirement into the purchase order: material grade, SDR, tolerance, marking, packaging, inspection trigger, and required certificates. If the sample fails, we document whether the failure is a process issue, material issue, tooling issue, or communication issue. That makes the next negotiation fact-based instead of opinion-based.

Sampling also helps prevent the common problem where a supplier sends a strong sample and later ships a weaker production batch. For larger orders, we recommend linking the approved sample, batch traceability, and pre-shipment inspection in the PO.

Pricing

  • Factory sample cost varies (typically $200–800 depending on DN and quantity)
  • Coordination and verification fee: $150–300 depending on scope
  • Included in full-service commission engagements
