China Pipe Factory Audit & Verification

On-site verification of factory production lines, PE100 resin traceability, ISO 4427 certification validity, and production capacity before you commit.

Duration
2–4 business days
Pricing
$300–600 per factory

What We Do

Before you commit to a full pipe order, you need to know the factory is real, properly certified, and capable of meeting your specification. We conduct on-site audits of shortlisted manufacturers so you can decide whether to place the deposit, request corrections, or walk away before production risk begins.

A factory audit is not just a photo visit. For pipe buyers, the important questions are specific: can the factory produce your DN and wall thickness, does the certificate cover the actual product, are raw materials traceable, is inspection equipment available, and does the production plan match your delivery date? We focus the audit on those commercial and technical risks.

When To Audit A Pipe Factory

Factory audit is most useful before the first order, before a large repeat order with a new product range, or when a trading company claims to control a factory but will not provide clear manufacturing evidence. It is also useful when the supplier’s price is far below market level and you need to check whether the difference comes from real efficiency, lower material grade, missing tests, or a weak certification basis.

What We Verify

Certification validity

We check ISO 9001, ISO 4427, product test reports, and other relevant certificates against the issuing body’s database where possible. Expired, borrowed, or product-mismatched certificates are common in export sales. A certificate for one product range does not automatically prove that the factory can supply your DN, SDR, resin grade, or steel grade.

Material sourcing

Material quality varies significantly between Chinese manufacturers. For plastic pipe, we review PE100, PE80, PVC resin, compound, masterbatch, and incoming material certificates. For steel pipe, we check coil, billet, stainless steel grade, heat number records, and material certificates where available.

Production equipment

We inspect extrusion lines, forming or welding equipment, sizing systems, cooling tanks, cutting equipment, marking systems, and available tooling. The key question is whether the equipment can produce your specified diameter, wall thickness, pressure class, and order quantity consistently.

Production capacity

Can they deliver your quantity in your timeline? We review the production schedule and factory order book, not just the sales team’s assurances.

Quality control procedures

We review incoming material checks, in-line dimensional checks, hydrostatic pressure test sampling, steel pipe NDT where relevant, final release criteria, non-conformance handling, and whether measuring tools are calibrated. We also check whether QC records are actually used or only prepared for visitors.

Red Flags We Look For

  • The supplier refuses to disclose the real factory name or address
  • Certificates use a different company name, product range, or expired scope
  • Extrusion tooling cannot cover the quoted DN or SDR range
  • Resin, steel, or compound traceability stops at generic supplier statements
  • Pressure testing equipment exists but records are incomplete or inconsistent
  • The factory cannot explain how rejected pipe is separated from accepted pipe
  • The export team promises documentation the factory has never prepared before

What You Get

  • Written audit report with photos
  • Pass/fail recommendation with reasoning
  • List of any issues and whether they’re disqualifying or manageable
  • Issued within 2 business days of on-site visit
  • Factory capability summary matched against your product specification
  • Suggested follow-up actions before deposit, sample production, or PO signing

What An Audit Cannot Prove

An audit reduces supplier risk, but it does not guarantee every future pipe in the shipment. It verifies factory capability, systems, documents, and current conditions. For high-value or project-critical orders, audit should be paired with clear PO terms, sample verification, and pre-shipment inspection.

Pricing

  • Standalone audit: $300–600 per factory
  • Included in commission engagements for the first factory audited
  • Additional factories on same trip: $200 each
